Relaxing at Home

After being at basketball all week, I felt a little guilty about the fact that Holly hasn't had much time at home to just play and do what SHE wants to do. Its been all about me the last few days and I wanted to go to basketball!

So, one of the first things Holly wanted to do when we got home was to take most of her clothes off. After emphatically throwing them on the floor, she then decided to pick them up and put them in the dirty clothes. We have been working on this quite a bit and she knows where to take them (my closet) when I tell her to go put them in the dirty clothes. However, this was all of her own doing and she was very proud of herself. She came and told me that she was going to do that, then told me that she "did it" when she was through. I had to go check, just to make sure that she put them where they belong. Here is what I found:

The light sweatshirt in the pile of darks...And the dark jeans in the pile of lights. At least she is sorting them! This just completely tickled me, so I had to share.
The Holly announced that she wanted to play play doh. So, I got out the table and chair, all the play doh toys, and put a tablecloth underneath because she likes to break it into little tiny pieces and throw them on the ground. She played
and cut with scissors, which she had to show me - "Mama! Watch scissors! Cut! I did it!"
When I went over to start picking up all the little pieces of play doh, Holly came down to help, but got distracted by the zipper on the table cloth. (Its the kind for an outdoor table with an umbrella on a pole, hence the zipper) She unzipped the zipper. Took the tablecloth apart. Yelled for me to put it back together again.
And zipped it back up again. She is VERY in to zippers right now. There's no hope for a sweatshirt to stay on all day long when there is a zipper on it. She really wants to put every zipper together herself to zip it up, but doesn't have the dexterity yet. It irritates her that she has to ask for help from Mama on that part!
Then, she thought she might do a little shopping. She has some of Van's graded homework, a telephone, her purse, and God knows what else in her shopping cart! She had a great time going from room to room getting whatever she felt like she wanted in that cart of hers.
She also had me put on her green skirt that Darla got her last year for her birthday. She is getting to the age of liking dress up. They play at school and now she is wanting to do it at home.
The first thought I had when I took that picture was "Oh, no! If I put that on my blog, someone is going to think that I dressed her that way ON PURPOSE since her skirt actually matches the only article of clothing she was wearing." Then I looked at the picture closer and realized that even if I had done it on purpose, she looks so darned cute that nobody would really care! LOL!

You are right, nobody would care! Plus, I think it is safe to assume that when any toddler is wearing a tutu or a princess costume, it was their idea :)
